  We are seeking highly motivated biologists/ biochemists or biophysicists. The goal of the project is to characterize the conformational dynamic of the full-length Prion protein with single molecule FRET spectroscopy.
  For the site-specific labelling of the protein with a FRET dye pair we utilize a specific bacterial expression system to incorporate functional unnatural amino acid.
  The encapsulation of protein molecules into polymerosomes to confine the diffusion volume and the use of a chemical redox system for enhancing the photostability of the dyes will enable the recording of single molecule fluorescence trajectories over a longest possible period of time. On the basis of this study we like to construct a most comprehensive picture of the folding landscape of the Prion protein.
